Below are examples of how we connect with our community.

Celebrate Architecture:

A month-long series of lectures, tours, receptions, exhibits, special events and the 2020 AIA Miami Design Awards Gala at the Freedom Tower.

Charrettes and Public Forums:

As part of its ongoing commitment to addressing quality of life issues in South Florida, AIA Miami sponsors charrettes, public meetings and forums for citizens to express their views, including a recent forum on the BayLink light rail system.

Continuing Education Program:

Designed for architects, builders and others in the construction industry, the AIA hosts continuing education courses throughout the year focusing on topics such as building, roofing and fire safety codes. The courses are interactive and participants are eligible for Florida Continuing Education Credit Hours.

Golf Tournament:

The Miami chapter of the AIA raised $13,000 this year in its annual American Institute of Architects (AIA) Miami golf tournament. Part of the proceeds of the tournament, now in its 12th year, go to the Miami Children’s Hospital, Florida International University, University of Miami and to student scholarships.

Mock ARE Exam:

Each year, the Miami chapter of the AIA holds a weekend preparation course, including mock exams and a workshop, for those planning to take the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE). The course, taught by experienced ARE teachers, highlights difficult sections of the exam and is designed to give students a “practice run” so that they can evaluate themselves and more thoroughly prepare.
